Lake Reflections Apiary

Lake Reflections Apiary

Whitney Lake belongs to Alderville First Nation in Southern Ontario. Alderville is home to the Mississauga Anishinaabeg of the Ojibway Nation, one of the seven Williams Treaties First Nations. Preserving traditional cultural values are important. As a Jingle dancer and an active member of Alderville’s culture committee, Whitney assists with events that promote traditional values, language, and a strong community.

That strong sense of community similarly exists within a colony of honeybees. Working with these amazing creatures gives her a deeper understanding of the complexities of nature and the relationships that exist between all living things. Like us, Honeybees can be extremely resilient when faced with challenges and also quite vulnerable.

Whitney sells honey and hive products through her business Lake Reflections Apiary. Operating 72 honeybee colonies on 6 different locations in Northumberland County including the Community Garden at Alderville First Nation.
