Lillian's Indiancrafts
Lillian Debassige is Ojibway from M'chigeeng First Nation in Ontario. A self-taught crafter, Lillian makes leatherwork, beadwork, dreamcatchers, medicine bags, smudge kits, mitts, quillwork baskets, and other traditional crafts. She has been making them for about 50 years and loves doing it. She also teaches and passes her knowledge on to keep the traditions going.
Lillian has a museum and gift shop on the reserve that catered to boat tours before the pandemic. Being part of the vendor lineup on the Indigenous Marketplace has helped Lillian move her business online and reach out to new customers.
