Chef Tammy Maki is a Certified, Red Seal Journeyman Pastry Chef and Baker. She is Saulteaux Ojibwe from the White Bear First Nation in Saskatchewan, who now lives and works in Sudbury, Ontario.
A product of the 60's scoop, Tammy was adopted into a Finnish family, where she learned her appreciation of food. Tammy is passionate about her Indigenous culture and enjoys introducing Indigenous ingredients to her customers. She strives to offer sustainable, ethical, traceable, Fair Trade and organic ingredients.
Tammy is one of the only Indigenous pastry chefs in Canada who’s had the opportunity to work in some of the best restaurants, resorts, hotels, and bakeries throughout the country. She has also worked with renowned pastry Chefs Guy Bourgeois, Jean-Guy Robichaud, and David Hassell.
She is also a winner of RISE: The Rotman Family Entrepreneurship Awards for new businesses. Tammy enjoys being part of Indigenous Marketplace, as so many small businesses have had to pivot to online sales during the pandemic. The Marketplace has also enabled her to network with other Indigenous business owners.
