Studio Sweetgrass

I am the beader and craftsperson behind Studio Sweetgrass. I'm an Anishinaabe woman from Alderville First Nation on Rice Lake, Ontario, currently living in Ottawa. I've been beading for over twenty years, learning as a young woman through beading circles with caring and wise aunties. As a young girl, I admired the beautiful beadwork created by my grandmother, and later I loved time spent with my uncle and auntie who toured the powwows with their crafts. I create beaded jewellery and adornments that share a story or message close to my heart. I am also committing to giving back to Indigenous organizations through sharing a portion of the profits and through volunteering. Miigwetch!
